Ongoing programs:
Edmonton Community Foundation (ECF) exists to help the people of the Edmonton area by encouraging philanthropy and funding charitable activities. Through contributions from donors, ECF assembles permanent endowment funds so that the investment returns support our community in perpetuity. ECF's grant programs: contribute to making Edmonton a more vibrant, caring, sustainable, healthy, smart, active, and engaged community; make a visible and lasting difference in the greater Edmonton area; offer timely and constructive support to the charitable sector, honour the intention and purpose identified by donors; and provide granting opportunities which are balanced, flexible, fair, creative, responsive, streamlined, accessible, and transparent. The Social Enterprise Fund provides alternative financing and technical assistance to charitable organizations engaging in social enterprises including affordable housing. The Vital Signs Report is an annual check up to measure how the community is doing on specific issues compared to national averages. The Endowment Sustainability Program coaches charities to develop a strong endowment and planned giving program. ECF's Student Awards programs provide financial assistance for students, usually on the basis of financial need and community involvement.
