Programs and activities:

Ongoing programs: Research: Beginning Year 4 of a 5 Year OvCAN/Health Canada funding agreement centered around improving treatments for affected individuals, coordinate a Patient Involvement in Research Program (PIRP), fund Tissue Banks in 4 centres, lab for the Chair in Ovarian Cancer Research at the University of Ottawa, and other research initiatives including a matching operating grant with the Cancer Research Society. • Influence policy and build awareness: lead projects that strive to ensure access to optimal treatments and improve health care systems to improve outcomes for women with this disease across this country, including analyzing and following up on results from a national online survey called The Every Woman Study, conducting an audit of the state of care for ovarian cancer patients in Canada, addressing gaps in the health care system related to preventing ovarian cancer, and preparing patient submissions when new treatments are being considered for funding. • Support for women living with ovarian cancer: Offer education programs and provide information resources so those with ovarian cancer have the information and support they need to make decisions about their care. Provide opportunities for those living with ovarian cancer to connect and engage with others living with this disease so they may feel less isolated and distressed and feel a sense of collective strength.

New programs: New education and support programs that were initiated in the year ended March 31, 2021 were continued and improved upon in 2021-2022. Plans for new support offerings were developed this year and will launch in 2022-23.
