Ongoing programs: Traditional Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Couples, Family Match - 3 to 4 hours per week. School Based Mentoring: 1 hour per week during the school year; Group Mentoring SOAR Program: 2 hours per week for 8-10 weeks; Go Girls and Game On: 1.5 hours per week for 7 weeks. PRISM Program supporting LGBTQ youth; Virtual Mentoring - 1 hour per week Studies show that mentoring can increase self-esteem and confidence, enhance social skills, discourage the use of drugs, and alcohol, diminish involvement with criminal behaviour. BBBS supported over 600 kids in 2020 in a variety of mentoring programs and through resources. By setting a positive example and building a developmental relationship, a mentor plays an essential role in preparing our young people to reach their full potential. Mentors volunteers more than 29,000 hours.
