New programs: In 2016 the Women's Transition to Housing Program, which rapidly re-houses homeless women in the shelter system for less than one year into permanent housing with support from Fred Victor staff, moved from a temporary location and expanded to 37 beds in a permanent location. The vacated temporary location now houses a 23-bed Transitional Shelter for Senior Women, which serves women who are 55+ and/or women who are vulnerable due to complex physical, mental health, developmental and/or substance-use related issues. In addition,Fred Victor opened an affordable housing building in the new Canary District that welcomed veterans, seniors, families, people with disabilities and people with mental health challenges. The building houses 250 residents with 100 of those residents being children and youth.
