Ongoing programs: The Canadian UNICEF Committee (UNICEF Canada) supports the core work of UNICEF, the leading advocate for children's rights, active in almost every country in the world. UNICEF helps children survive and thrive from early childhood through adolescence with programs to ensure child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and HIV andAIDS. Our work includes the provision and distribution of vaccines agains t preventable childhood diseases and vitamin and micronutrient supplements;education and counselling to prevent HIV and AIDS transmission among young people and from mother to child; clean water and sanitation facilities; disarmament, demobilization and reintegration into society of child soldiers; basic primary education; family and community education programs to reduce violence against children. As well, UNICEF Canada funds life-saving emergency relief programs that provides humanitarian assistance tochildren affected by emergencies. UNICEF is supported entirely by volunta ry donations and helps children regardless of race, religion or politics. Our determination and reach are unparalleled. Because at UNICEF, we are for every child.
