Ongoing programs: Traditional Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Couples/Family Match: 3 to 4 hours per week; In School Mentoring: 1 hour per wee kduring the school year; Group Mentoring SOAR Program (Social Opportunities Activities Relationships) 2 hours per week for 8-10 weeks; Go Girls and Game On 1.5 hours per week for 7 weeks. Studies show that mentoring can increase self-esteem an confidence, enhance social skills, discourage the use of drugs and alcohol, diminish involvement with criminal behaviour. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Woodstock and District served 472 children/youth in 2017 in a variety of programs. We target children who need us most, including those living in single parent homes, growing up in poverty or coping with obstacles in their lives. By setting a positive example and sharing their, knowledge and experience, a mentor plays an essential role in preparing our children for a bright future. Total volunteer hours calculated for 2017=21,749

New programs: Teen SOAR - a new branch of the SOAR program mentioned above for youth overthe age of 13. Drop in Hours - Each Wednesday from 6pm-8pm during the school year, the school year, the office is open to members to play games, crafts, do homework etc.
