COVID-19 update:

Community organizations are hosting free virtual tax clinics. Volunteers may be able to complete and file your taxes for free, by video conference or by phone. Our directory will regularly be updated to include these clinics.

If you're planning to go to an in-person free tax clinic, please check our directory and call the clinic before you go. Many clinics may have been cancelled or postponed due to concerns surrounding COVID-19 or due to mandatory closures ordered by authorities.

Before visiting a tax clinic, make sure you are eligible for the free service You may be eligible for help at a free tax clinic if you have a modest income and a simple tax situation. Volunteer tax preparation clinics can be held at any time during the year, however, most clinics are offered in March and April. If you cannot find a tax preparation clinic in your area, check back again as community organizations add clinics regularly.

Remember to bring your tax slips and receipts

Volunteers need them to prepare your income tax and benefit return. If you are missing a tax slip, you may be able to get a copy online. For more information, see tax slips.

Clinic type

Walk-in
A clinic where services for eligible individuals are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Drop-off
A clinic where income tax documents for eligible individuals can be dropped off during clinic hours.

By appointment
A clinic where an appointment is needed to file tax returns for eligible individuals.

Virtual
A clinic where eligible individuals, from within your province/territory, can have their taxes completed without any physical contact.

Virtual - Northern communities
A clinic where eligible individuals, from prescribed zones, can have their taxes completed without any physical contact. These individuals can be served virtually by volunteers from across Canada.
