Dying With Dignity Canada is the national human-rights charity committed to improving quality of dying, protecting end-of-life rights, and helping Canadians avoid unwanted suffering. We defend human rights by advocating for legislation related to assisted dying that respects the Canadian Constitution Act and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Our mandate is to: - advocate provincially for appropriate regulation regarding end-of-life choice and care that also respects the Act and the Charter. - intervene in court cases that form constitutional challenges to the legislation and unfairly restrict access. - educate Canadians about human rights, end-of-life choice, medical assistance in dying and advance care planning and other topics related to end-of-life through community presentations, workshops and webinars. - educate and support Canadians by providing information and resources related to end-of-life choice and care, including medical assistance in dying, and by sharing and promoting the lived experiences of Canadians, their families and caregivers, at end-of-life. - increase awareness and inform Canadians about end-of-life choice and care through traditional and social media channels. - provide email and phone support, patient navigation and referrals to help eligible Canadians to access medical assistance in dying and resources to individuals exploring end-of-life options other than medical assistance in dying - operate an in-person and virtual independent witness program for Canadians accessing medical assistance in dying. - support healthcare practitioners who assess for and provide MAID through information exchanges.New programs:
